The Canon RF 28-70mm f/2.8 IS STM Lens features L-series quality optics while maintaining a compact form factor but still at a relatively affordable price point for its features and performance. The RF 28-70mm f/2.8 IS STM features Two Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) elements at the front of the lens design (previously found in L-series lenses) to correct chromatic aberration and reduce weight. Two glass-moulded aspherical elements suppress aberrations and help with the compact form factor. Super Spectra Coating (SSC) assist in reducing ghosting and lens flare when working in strong lighting conditions.
A stepper (STM) autofocus motor is built into the Canon RF 28-70mm f/2.8 IS STM Lens which provides fast, quiet and accurate autofocus, making it ideal for both still and video applications. Optical Image Stabilisation is offered to up to 5.5 stops on its own, or up to 7.5 stops when used with a compatible camera body's built-in stabilisation system. This is to reduce blur in imagery produced by camera shake in handheld shooting conditions.
