The Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II Lens improves on the Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S. This Z-Mount lens is the first 24-70mm f/2.8 that features an internal zoom design that maintains the overall length during use to contribute to faster autofocus (AF) performance, balancing for gimbal use, general weight reduction and upgraded weather resistance.
With S-Line Optics, the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II Lens features a revised optical design featuring two extra-low dispersion and three aspherical elements. These elements assist in reducing chromatic aberrations and colour fringing to create high sharpness and colour accuracy. This design is inherently more flare-resistant for stronger contrast when working in bright sunlight.
Compared to the 9-blade diaphragm on the predecessor, the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II Lens features an improved 11-blade diaphragm for a more rounded bokeh appearance. The minimum focus distance from the sensor has also been shortened to 24cm at the wide end and 33cm at the tele end.
Benefitting both still and video use, this 24-70mm Z S line lens features another first in a zoom lens, a Swift Voice Coil Motor (VCM) that uses magnets instead of gears to move groups at greater speeds with greater speeds and smoothness. Especially for video use, the VCM system is especially quiet, and the multi-focusing system greatly reduces focus breathing for greater compositional accuracy when racking focus.
